VOLUNTEER ROLES

PLEASE NOTE

Given that we don't use a chapter approach, have no chartered affiliates (see explanation in our FAQ's page) and have only our main office located at Mississippi State University, it is difficult to adequately utilize many energies and talents that are located in various places across the US.

One of the most common misconceptions we see is the perception that volunteers are involved in the actual child trip experience. In most cases, we use outfitters and charters that have staff and infrastructure to meet all needs during a hunt or fishing experience. These are highly personal, intimate and relatively private experiences, and thus the need for volunteers is typically minimal.

Due to overwhelming response from our friends across the nation, we have temporarily suspended acceptance of new volunteer applications. The deluge of interest in personal and direct involvement is gratifying but, in all honesty, far exceeds the need relative to our current case load. In that context, we feel we would not be good stewards of this interest and volunteerism to simply continue to enroll legions of volunteers with no real function.

We feel this is the wisest approach, since we have had far more interest that we are able to accommodate, and we do not want generous people offering time and talent that we are not able to effectively utilize, thus ultimately creating disappointment.

We know you understand!
